Covering every trick in his playbook. I am fully convinced beyond a reasonable doubt, if there were ever an honor for Ricks knowledge of the river and fish, he does deserve the Heisman, Lombardi and Coach of the year award all in one. We began the day against a might defensive home team. We were caught in a scoreless first half. The fish used the home field advantage to use up the clock. Then, Coach Hedding sent in his secret weapon. Then, just as Boise St. #11 would, I found the strike zone. Back to back receptions. Even though the first of the 2 were called back (to the river) for the obvious finage rule, I rallied back for another score which was a huge confidence builder. At this point of the afternoon game, we're up by 12, pounds. Late in the fourth quarter of the day, the home team scores a very quick TD, (take down) due to inattention to detail. Score tied, Clock running out, I grabbed a monster catch; put the football shape fish to the boat only to give up another huge score to the same finage call. Well, as the light grew dim, the day game over, once again, we lost the battle but won the war. But the ultimate overall prize, this is Gods Country. Respect it as your own, and the memories will be with you to the very end. Just being present in the canyon or anywhere else on the river, is a valuable experience. Having Mr. Rick Hedding as your tour/fishing guide, is a major bonus in itself. As the season grows on, the competition will get better, in and out of the water. This instructor on the river is in high demand. He is worth every minute, hour, and day. Rick teaches diversity when on the river. I have realized that on this river you need to have a wide array of ideas on what fools these incredible creatures that makes life so rewarding. Thank you my brother. Nina and I have found a true friend in him for the rest of our lives. Timothy A. Pyle
